Jamie Reed MP, Labour's Shadow Health Minister, responding to today's report from the Willis Commission on Nursing Education, said:
?Today's report is right to highlight the effect nursing jobs losses in the NHS is having on standards of patient care.
?Healthcare assistants are being badly put upon as over six thousand nursing jobs have been axed since David Cameron entered Downing Street. We have long warned that patients are paying the price.
?Labour has consistently called for stronger regulation of healthcare assistants but earlier this year, during negotiations on the Health Act, the Government dismissed our concerns. Ministers need to get a grip on scale of job losses across the country and stand up for patients.?
